  • New baby

So the cat has kind of been out of the bag on this one for a while, but I just thought that I would update and let everyone know that we are expecting.  We were originally given the due date, of December 15th, but at our ultrasound they switched it to the 13th, so somewhere around then we should be adding a new little one to our family.

Austin is good, but really doesn't get it.  I keep telling him about the baby in my belly, but he wants nothing to do with it.  We ask him if he wants a brother or sister, and he first always answers "no" then usually says "sister," but switches to "brother" sometimes.  I believe that the sister thing is because his best friend Hayden has a little sister and Austin is amazing with her.  He loves her, and gives her kisses, it is so sweet!  I really have not preferance whether a boy or girl, but I can't wait to find out.  I'm hoping that my doctor will let us find out a little early, so we don't have to wait until after we move and find a new doctor.

So that is the news, we are now going to be a family of four, not three, but these past two and a half years have been amazing with just Austin.  I feel so blessed to have such a great son, who loves us so openly.  He is growing by leaps and bounds these days, and I am glad that I'm not missing anything in his life right now.  I love having just him, and watching him be the amazing child that he is.  He loves his father so much.  When he wakes up in the morning he calls for "daddy" now.  He always wants daddy during the day, which is so sweet, but breaks my heart at the same time, cause I don't know how he will deal when daddy is deployed.  He is such a daddies boy and loves to do everything daddy does.  When he studies at the table, Austin colors right next to him.  So sweet!

Well, Dan just called and let me know that he got canceled, so instead of writing more I'm going to get ready for him to come home.

    Have a great day everyone!

  • I am thankful...

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His love endures forever!"- Psalm 107:1

This verse is just the first in a chapter overflowing with thanks for the Lord and all He has done. Verse 8 calls it "unfailing love"... I'm mighty grateful for that unfailing love!

Thanksgiving is in one day and although Christmas seems to be stealing a bit of the limelight, I wanted to pause and reflect on what I am thankful for.

I am thankful first and foremost for life. Life that is a gift and ultimately not my own. I have a creator and a sustainer... a Savior. I have forgiveness... again and again. UNFAILING LOVE. I often forget what a precious gift just waking up to enjoy yet another day is... how? I don't know. Beauty is all around me... in the air that fills my lungs, in the trees and flowers, in the people I meet. Life is precious and sweet and so short. Having a baby taught me that... I only wish I'd quit forgetting!!!

I am thankful for family... both near and far. I pray we can all enjoy many more years together. I am grateful for a patient, wise, humble and wonderful man named Dan. He is a great husband and friend... a great provider and father!  Austin is truly blessed. Speaking of... I am grateful for the blessing that he has brought into my life through all of the ups and downs! His little life is the clearest testament to God's goodness I know. He reassured my belief in a Creator and all things miraculous. He is my miracle- a beautiful, sweet, fun and perfect miracle! I am thankful and grateful to have my parents and my brothers and my new sister in law!  Though they are far from my home, they are close in my heart. And I'm grateful for in the in-lawed folks in my life... I married into a wonderfaul family and am happy to be blessed with even more people to spend holidays with and be blessed by... I wish them nothing but happiness and health...

I am thankful for friends... both new and old, near and far. Life's just better with friends!!!! And I appreciate the true ones... you know who you are.

I am thankful to our military... Active, Reserve, Retired, Deployed, In-training, MIA, POW... ALL branches, not just the mighty USMC- ooh rah!- I know firsthand what types of sacrifices are made so that they can protect our freedoms and nation. I admire their honor, courage, commitment, and sacrifice.

I am thankful for the families of the military... the wives, husbands, children, parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews... they are personally affected by their loved ones' service and the sacrifices THEY make do not go unnoticed- at least, not by me. I know firsthand too what it is like being "married to the military."

I am thankful for my house, for chocolate, for scales that lie, for wet Austin kisses, for pillow talk, for new milestones, for familiar songs, that baking is still fun, for Facebook connections, for coffee drinks, for symmetry, for swings,  for friendly mailmen/waiters/cashiers, for family hugs, goodnight prayers, books read with Austin, and books read after he goes to bed, for bargain shopping deals, that taking out the garbage is "man's" work, for belly laughs and good times with friends, for finding cool and cheap things on craigslist, for inside jokes, for jewelry, that I was able to reference Facebook and Craigslist in my list of thanks, for days with naps,  and............ much, much, much more!!!

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

  • Coming to WI!!!

Hey everybody!  Dan selected this week and got helos.  We are very happy because that means that we don't have to worry about moving and can come home and visit right away!  We will most likely be leaving on Thursday and be in by Saturday sometime.  We want to take our time and enjoy the ride, instead of overwhelming Austin with two straight days in the car.  Dan took a full 23 days of leave, not that we will be home for all of it, but we will for most of it.  So let me know if you want to get together with us!

  • Husky

Well if you know my inlaws, you know Husky.  He was a great dog, and was always great with Austin.  My husband and his family loved that dog very much and I'm sorry to say that Husky had to be put down yesterday.  I'm sure that Karen and Dan could use your love and support during this hard time.  Husky helped Karen through many hard times well she wasn't moving around as well, and will be greatly missed.  So I just wanted to let everyone know that and ask for your prayers for our family, as this loss may have been a dog, but it was a very important member of my inlaws family.

Also please keep praying for the Cady family.  They can use all the prayers that they can get, so send a few up right now and keep at it.

Have a great 3rd of September everyone--I hope I do cause it's my birthday.

  • Hurricanes

Okay so Gustav is supposed to hit the gulf coast tomorrow!  Pray that it keeps moving west, away from us!  I feel so bad wishing that on someone else right now, but we really aren't prepared for a storm of that magnitude to hit us, we need to find more things and/or stock up on more food and water.  Find out about what to do about our windows (because we aren't supposed to board them up ourselves.  Plus this is really not what my mother was expecting when she came down for a visit.  And with Hanna right behind (possibly), I'm hoping that she will still have a flight out of here.  Either way pray for the safety of everyone.  This could be another devastating storm for New Orleans.

On another note I just saw both Christie and Brittany's post and all of our prayers are with the Cady family at this time.  If you don't read those two blogs and read mine, please keep the Cady family in your prayers.
